SSEN Transmission has submitted their Section 37 application to the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit (ECU) for the Beauly to Blackhillock to New Deer to Peterhead Line

SSEN Transmission has submitted their Section 37 application to the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit (ECU) for the Beauly to Blackhillock to New Deer to Peterhead 400kV Overhead Line (OHL) Project. 



Under Section 37 of the Electricity Act 1989, the application is seeking consent for the installation, operation and maintenance of a new 400kV OHL connection, spanning an approximate length of 186km between Beauly and Peterhead, via Greens substation near New Deer. The Proposed Development also includes crossing works, temporary diversions and permanent realignment works to existing 132kV and 275kV OHLs, of approximately 14.7km in total, and ancillary development and associated works. The Proposed Development also includes the removal of the existing 132kV OHL that runs from Beauly to Knocknagael.

  • by post to the Scottish Government, Energy Consents Unit, 4th Floor, 5 Atlantic Quay, 150 Broomielaw, Glasgow, G2 8LU identifying the proposal and specifying the grounds for representation. Please note that there may be a delay in the Energy Consents Unit receiving representations by post.

All public representations should be submitted no later than 24 November 2025 although Ministers may still consider representation received after this date. The ECU will advise separately on the consultee deadlines.
